Coming Soon! 900 MHz Ultra Wide Area Ham Radio Coverage! Tired of talking in circles? Come and hide with us!
Overview Information -
The WØIDS repeater system is a growing network of cross-linked and cross-banded equipment serving the Twin Cities and to the North. Steve Glatzel, WØIDS, is the primary facilitator of the WØIDS/R repeater system. He and several associates maintain the various components and real estate locations.
The flagship of the system is the 442.925 MHz repeater located on the IDS building in downtown Minneapolis. IDS is the tallest building between Chicago and San Francisco. Situated on the 45th parallel, the repeater has equal coverage both to the equator and the North Pole. The IDS system consists of:
· Motorola MSF5000 Repeater with power output of 225 Watts.
· 10db gain antenna.
· Elevation of 775 feet above street level.
· PL (Private Line) tone enabled. You must transmit 114.8 to the input. The IDS repeater transmits 127.3 to you on the output.
· Echo-link accessible.
· Available 24hrs/day.
A second repeater is located to the north at Crown, Minnesota, and is on the same transmit/receive frequencies as IDS. However, the input PL tone is different (127.3) than IDS to allow for the use on the same frequency as the IDS system. This provides coverage to the far northern metro and beyond. Both the input and output PL tone are the same 127.3.
A system is also located at Hinckley with a cross band 2meter/440 link to IDS. Hinckley provides far north coverage for travelers on I-35, on a limited basis, between the Twin Cities and Duluth. Its input and output is a new frequency of 147.465 MHz. It requires you to transmit a PL tone of: 114.8 to the repeater input. Hinckley transmits an output PL of 127.3.
An additional repeater is located at Pequot Lakes in North-Central Minnesota. The frequencey is 442.925 with an input/output pl tone of 114.8.
A new system is located in Minneapolis with a cross band 2meter/440 link to IDS. Minneapolis provides metro coverage on two meters. Its input and output is a new frequency of 147.435 MHz. It requires you to transmit a PL tone of: 114.8 to the repeater input. Minneapolis transmits an output PL of 127.3.
Several additional sites are in the planning or planning/operational stages at this time. This includes remote systems at St. Cloud, MN and at "The Farm" in Eau Claire, WI. Watch this web page for further exciting and new developments. We are going to WOW you with new services!
If you have used WØIDS/R, you have probably done so due to the top quality equipment available for your use and the superior coverage our top-notch locations provide. Regular users are encouraged to participate in the ongoing costs. If you are a new user, welcome to the vast diversity of Hams who are all interested in communication using WØIDS/R as their common interest. WØIDS/R is privately funded. All donations are returned to you, the user, with newer and better equipment and additional facilities and sites. Contact Steve, WØIDS, for further details.
